Application Areas

Biomass Harvesting

More and more countries are relying on the combustion of biomass for renewable energy production. This biomass grows worldwide in the form of various harmful plants or weeds, among other things, and only needs to be harvested. PRINOTH provides the solution here in one machine.

For years PRINOTH is supporting biomass projects in countries like Ethiopia, Namibia and Cuba. In addition to the production of wood chips in Europe, customers in these countries have focused on the harvesting of secondary vegetation and young stock. In this case, biomass harvesting has two advantages:

First, previously unused areas are cleared and can be replanted.

Second, the burnt biomass generates electricity, which reduces the import of heavy fuel oil for electricity generation.

So how does it really work? There are two PRINOTH approaches to solve this problem.

The PRINOTH Harvester H600 can be easily connected to an existing fleet of tractors or other carrier vehicles in the 240-400 hp power range using an attachment frame. No matter how chaotic bushes and trees grow, stand or lie – the H600 harvests, chops and blows the chopped material via an ejection pipe onto the trailer or collection bunker. If no suitable utility vehicle is available, PRINOTH provides the complete solution with the BMH 480. In addition to the H600 attachment head, the 469 HP BMH 480 tracked vehicle has an integrated high-tip bunker. The BMH 480-H600 team harvests several hectares of land lane by lane. When the 25 m³ bunker is full, it can tilt the biomass onto the transport vehicle, which brings the harvest mass to the power plant. In Cuba, up to 1,000 tons of biomass are produced within one day with 13x BMH 480-H600.
